Sajida

The recipient of a cornea transplant a number of months ago, Sajida is beginning to see improvement. She's still in the early stages and has regained enough sight to give her confidence to rejoin the other children at school.

Blindness makes it impossible for many to support their families and contribute to the economic health of their countries.

A farmer by trade, Khadak Singh began losing sight due to a corneal infection from the chemicals he used to fertilize his land. Dependent on his brothers and neighbors for help, his children were even jeered at school for his blindness. Thanks to his corneal transplant he is now able to provide for his family and community again.

Durga

Durga

When children can't read or even see the blackboard at school, their education and future are compromised.

Durga's infectious smile and twinkling eyes give a glimpse into the spirit of this sweet young man. It's hard to imagine that a few months before his life was filled with darkness.

At just 14 years old, Durga is a gifted student and talented cricket player. An injury during a match left him in the hospital fighting a raging infection in his right eye.

A corneal transplant at the LV Prasad Eye Institute near his home in Vizag, India put him back on track for a normal, healthy childhood. What could've been a major crisis was averted thanks to LVPEI.
